Title : From Team Production to the Analysis of Organization

A vast litterature has emphasized the increasing use of teamwork in firms or, more generally, the emergence of team-based organizations. This workshop will connect this empirical question, with a research question: What can say Economics on this kind of work organization?

To answer, we will show how different conceptual constructs have been elaborated and can contribute to understand teams' spreading among firms. Three main lines of research will be differentiated:

  1. The team as a coordination device
  2. The team as an incentive device
  3. The team as an organizational device.

that enable us to confront recent and older papers.
