Title : Inequality and Identity Economics

What are the causes of inequality? What role does social identity play in the divergence of economic outcomes? This lecture presents an economic framework of identity and incorporates the framework into models of the labor market and models of investment in human capital. The lecture indicates how identity can help explain the systematic differences in education, employment, and income. The lecture further studies how identity relates to preferences for inequality, as demonstrated in a series of economic experiments.
